Each One Teach One Tutoring Program

We currently have 20 kids ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade enrolled in our tutoring program. The goal is to have one tutor per child each day. One on one is the way we’ve found to be the most productive, as it builds a relationship between tutor and child and the child doesn’t have to fight for attention. The program is centered around creating strong readers, while it also leaves flexibility to help the kids in other subjects through working on their homework and other projects.

Each One Reach One Mentoring Program

In recognizing the invaluable effects of having positive role models in one’s life, we desire to match every child in the community with a mentor! The goals for the mentors are to help their mentee develop and grow a relationship with Christ, encourage and assist in academic success, teach and practice goal setting, give exposure to new places and things in the city of Houston, be a positive role model and to of course have fun.

Leadership/Bible Study for Teens

We have worked through several different curriculums and subjects for periods of times with a group of teenage girls. These classes cover subjects such as leadership, life skills, abstinence, Bible study and more. Our desire is to come along side the teenage girls that want to go against the norm but need direction on how to do that. The importance of offering these classes as well as just a positive, supportive and safe place for the girls to go is immeasurable!

Basketball Teams

Basketball has proven to be an incredible tool to reach the boys of all ages! It offers a way for us to teach crucial life skills including showing respect, commitment, teamwork, self-discipline and more. It also gives a platform for sharing Jesus both in teaching and by example. The goal is to provide an opportunity to do something they love while learning lessons that are so pertinent to success.

Bible Study for Boys

This study is available to any young man that wants to learn more about God and to build his relationship with Him. We have decided not to make it required, in hopes of adding authenticity to the time. Boys that are looking for more are sure to find it in this study.

Activities

Generation One enjoys giving the kids the opportunity to experience new and fun things in and around our area. We take kids to the beach, parks, fishing, museums, sporting events, circus, zoo, plays and more. Generation One loves to have fun, but there is a greater purpose in these trips. We hope that kids will become inspired by something new they’ve seen or done and that the experience will ignite in them a passion for life and a goal for the future. We like to take many volunteers on our field trips as we feel like it enhances the child’s experience when they receive one on one explanation and attention! If you’re unable to help on a trip but still desire to help, we always need help with tickets and food for each trip.
