Generation One empowers children in the Third Ward to succeed by supporting their education through social and emotional learning, tutoring, mentoring and enrichment programs.
GenOne also gives the kids access to safe, fun and memorable childhood experiences with events, camps and other activities throughout the year.
We coordinate hundreds of volunteer groups each year to revitalize the neighborhood by clearing lots, demolishing dangerous buildings, painting homes, building wheel chair ramps and other minor home repairs.
Generation One, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your tax deductible donation to Generation One, Inc. will be used to provide for the needs of the children of Third Ward and their community.
“Before Generation One, [my sons] didn’t have anything. No father figure. Since Generation One, they’ve become the men of the house.”
Theresa Dodd, Parent
"They are really making a difference in the lives of the kids with keeping their innocence, a safe childhood experience, building memorable moments. The kids are really excited because when they think of Generation One, it’s nothing but fun learning experience."
- Pastor Willie Wright Jr.
One thing that he has brought this neighborhood back to has been a community... This guy moved here, a pastor from Ohio, and said ‘I’ve got to be a part of what this guy is doing. This guy cleaned up our neighborhood.’”
- Mark Square, University of Houston Police Dispatcher
Generation One’s impact has been much greater than other agencies or organizations that I’ve been involved with simply because they’re a giving organization… it’s truly been a supportive effort and I’m very appreciative of that.
- Lisa McClinton, Dodson Elementary principal
They taught me how to respect and love myself for who I am. They encourage us to keep on pursuing our life goal and to never give up
