Generation One Academy
A Community School

Like children everywhere, “at-risk” children need to feel not only that they belong but that there is a future, waiting and attainable for them. They need dreams that are not bound by reality but fueled by hope, sustained by achievement and made real by work, commitment and opportunity. It begins, as it does for all children, in the formative, foundational years from 4 to 12.

Generation One Academy is designed to be an environment that provides positive input, nurturing encouragement and real-world tools for building the foundation for a successful life by taking away the obstacles to the effective delivery of educational content to “at-risk” children.

The “traditional” school building and classroom environment have been removed. The school building is now a room in a church (in most cases). The classroom is more conducive to learning because it is smaller and the teacher now has the time to address individual challenges. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in various positions that support their child’s classroom. And the church is encouraged to reach out to families of each student to offer them the fellowship that leads to a healthy household.

Family, school, church and neighborhood; these are the most important influences in the life of a child. Thus, it is imperative that they offer encouragement that is deliberately positive and affirming. Through Generation One Academy these entities are brought together to build the foundations for success that “at-risk” children need so desperately.
