Generation One is a non-denominational ministry located in the Third Ward of Houston, Texas and is committed to the spiritual growth and physical rebuilding of the impoverished areas of the Third Ward. Generation One offices locally in order to better understand the needs of the community and organize the response of those who have a heart to serve and volunteer their prayers, talents, resources, and sweat to improving the quality of life in this historical part of Houston.

A micro objective of our ministry is the Next Generation! We will focus a great deal of time, love, and education on the youth population. Generation One is committed to making sure that the next generation "Knows What Their Potential Is and Believes That They Can Achieve It!" To ensure this becomes a reality we will be setting up after school programs through out the community. Other methods used to reach the Next Generation and the current one will be sports programs, youth camps, tutoring, counseling, help with college enrollment, and skills training.

On the macro level our focus is to improve the overall quality of life for residents in the Third Ward. Our goal is to tear down dilapidated homes and abandoned buildings while rehabilitating existing homes. We will offer adult job training, counseling, tutoring, and skills training.

To advance these objectives, we will need a cooperative effort from volunteers, churches, ministries, and corporate partners. As we work in the Third Ward we will position ourselves to organize and facilitate the rebuilding of the community. Our job in this effort is to work out the logistics and organize the work. Our goal is to work out the details of how a single volunteer, an entire church, or a corporation can efficiently and immediately provide support to the needy in Houston's Third Ward.
